The Responsibility of Education

Welcome. This is a website to help you think about education better, and, ultimately, to help you make learning and teaching an essential part of your life.

The site includes a complete course of study. You can work through it alone, but I recommend inviting a friend, parent, spouse, or tutor. Much of the course material is meant for discussion, and there’s really no substitute for the power of dialogue.

It’s important that your education receive individual attention, both your own and that of a caring guide—someone to investigate your interests and talents with you, someone to model autonomous learning and teaching, someone to help you design a vision and purpose for your continuing education. I work as such a tutor, and you can contact me here to arrange a meeting. But anyone can use this site to guide a willing student, or themselves, through the course.

Everyone should be encouraged to define and manage an education that feels authentic and vital, one that fosters meaningful work and fulfillment. Everyone should be invited to discuss the important questions that shape the way we learn and teach, the way we raise young people, and the way we build an educative society. The responsibility of education belongs to everyone. It is my sincerest aim to empower this responsibility, for I believe it is at the heart of a life well-lived, and one of the best hopes for humanity’s future.

Let’s get started.
